Your next stop:

As Engineering Manager you lead ART Finance — the Agile Release Train behind wakacje.pl's finance systems, which handle the full money flow of every booking: payments, refunds, chargebacks, accounting and reconciliation, settlements with tour operators, and financial data for Finance and audit purposes. Accuracy and stability take priority over speed. You start by leading the WAK Financial Systems team in Poland, and will later lead the merge with the CEE Finance team (Poland and Czechia) into the ART. Your direct reports are the Tech Lead Managers (TLMs).

Tech stack: mainly PHP, including legacy code and technical debt.

Time split: 40% leadership, 45% business & delivery, 15% technical (non-coding).

Job description

What lies ahead on your journey:

• Deliver as an ART. Own PI Planning, capacity, dependencies and risks. Delivery of planned initiatives,

• Lead and grow the TLMs. Goals, feedback, development and succession. Hire for open leadership roles.

• Run stable finance operations. SLOs, incident and escalation paths, 24/7 continuity, audit readiness.

• Set technical direction. Standards for code review, testing and observability. Own the technical debt plan for the legacyq systems.

• Partner with Product and Finance. Turn business goals into engineering objectives with measurable targets.

Requirements

What to pack in your suitcase:

• Experience: 8+ years in IT, 3+ years as a manager of Tech Leads or team leaders.

• Programming languages: strong development background, PHP preferred. No daily coding, but able to read code and judge trade-offs.

• Frameworks and libraries: none required. Symfony or Laravel is a plus.

• Databases: relational databases (SQL), transactions, data consistency.

• CI/CD tools: Git, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines.

• Other: system design and integrations (REST APIs, payment providers), testing strategy, observability and SLOs.

• Communication: clear and direct, translates between Finance stakeholders and engineers. Comfortable with difficult conversations.

• Analytical thinking and problem solving: decides on data, calm during incidents that affect money.

• Teamwork and mentoring: proven record of growing Tech Leads and resolving conflicts.

• English: B2+ minimum. Polish: fluent.

Your extra baggage of experience:

• Finance, payments or accounting systems. Payment providers, reconciliation, compliance

• SAFe or another scaled agile framework

• Hands-on PHP and relational databases.

• Merging teams or systems after a merger, ideally across countries.

• Travel or OTA sector.
